Prof. Paul Sokol was elected to serve on the DMP Executive Committee of the American Physical Society. His 3 year term begins following the 2023 March Meeting in Los Vegas, NV.
Sokol noted that he was excited to join the executive committee which selects cutting edge research topics for the annual APS March meeting, the largest meeting of physics faculty in the country. The executive committee also helps in the selection of DMP-funded student and postdoctoral travel awardees.
Founded in 1984, the Division of Materials Physics is one of the largest divisions of the American Physical Society. Materials Physics emphasizes the application of fundamental condensed matter concepts to complex and multiphase media, including novel materials of technological interest.
