In this week's installment of the Physics Colloquium series, Ralf Lehnert (Indiana University) will present “Einstein's Relativity Under the Microscope” at 4:00 PM in Swain W. 119.
Abstract: The theory of relativity has revolutionized our understanding of space and time. Since its conception over a century ago, it has weathered experimental scrutiny and become a pillar of established physics. However, theoretical explorations beyond the boundaries of established physics have generated renewed interest in testing relativity. The current worldwide activities in this subject were initiated by research at Indiana University, and the Indiana University Center for Spacetime Symmetries (IUCSS) is playing a leading role in ongoing efforts. In this talk, I provide an outline of this vibrant field.
