About Babak Seradjeh

Currently, I am mainly working on problems related to:

  1. Topological insulators and superconductors
  2. Majorana fermions in condensed matter systems
  3. Realization and manipulation of fractional particles

I aim to understand the fundamental principles governing these systems and the potential application of their properties. I also seek new designs and schemes for novel devices. I use a variety of techniques, including field-theoretic methods, renormalization group studies, duality transformations, variational and perturbative methods or a combination thereof, complemented with numerical computations when suited. Other methods and techniques are also employed--and sometimes invented--as needed by the problem. Ongoing discussions with other groups, especially experimentalists, is enthusiastically encouraged in my group.
