Agenda:

Discuss the recruitment process

John will bring up other activities for the students in the summer

A review of all present indicated that Matt was expecting 3-4 applications; Dave, 6 Jim, 3-4; John 4; Rob, 12 and Robert 3.  The application was discussed and the IU Cyclotron application was printed for reference.  Rob agreed to draft an application.  The areas to be addressed by the application were discussed and the following areas were identified to become parts of the application:

We agreed to complete the application process by next meeting.

John agreed to draft a schedule for the summer that would include activities that students could participate in after the workshop day.

Discuss school technology assets to be provided

Dave will bring up the possibility of Eisenhower funding

The computers supplied by schools were discussed and no real problems were revealed.  Schools place filtering on information entering the school and they also limit links from the outside to the school servers.  There are significant firewalls that would prevent access to the sites.  We agreed that the web site should be at Indiana University Physics, for the data stream.  Schools would FTP data to this site, as well as maintain a local site for their school even though it could not be seen from outside the school.

Discuss electronic and mechanical planning

    Rick and ordering status/plans

Rick reports that the money has arrived and can be spent.  Rick discussed the how to calculate how thick the scintillating material needed to be.  Matthew took notes from the board, and is writing them up.  When the copy is available, it will be scanned and added to these minutes.

Rob—application et al.

John—workshop schedule et al.

Dave—Eisenhower

Rick—Ordering scintillation plastic
