The electron gun assembly fits within a side port of the electron probe vacuum chamber. The mounting hardware has provision for precise alignment of the emitting point with respect to the aperture electrodes.

The collector assembly uses a carbon film square with contacts at the four corners which connect to logarithmic amplifiers.
