E1-1 Wave pulse on a rope.
Purpose: To demonstrate wave propagation.
Description: A piece of heavy clothes line is attached to a support and stretched slightly. The other end is given a quick transverse motion, and a pulse is observed traveling down the rope. The speed of the pulse increases if the rope is pulled more tightly.

Equipment: A long piece of rope.
