Rubber at low temperature.



 
C7-1 Rubber at low temperature.
Purpose: To demonstrate the change of state.
Description: A piece of rubber hose is cooled in a dewar of liquid nitrogen. The hose is removed and struck with a hammer. The rubber will be very brittle and break into many pieces. Similarly, a rubber ball may be solidified, and when it is thrown to the floor, it will completely shatter.
