Radiant Heat

C3-1 Radiant Heat
Purpose: To demonstrate the transmission of heat. Can also be used to demonstrate optics of spherical mirrors.
Description: Two parabolic mirrors face each other . An electric heating coil is placed at the focus of one mirror, while a match is placed at the focus of the other. When the heater is turned on, the radiant energy is transmitted by the mirror system to the match, which will light.
References: Hc-5.
Equipment: Two parabolic mirrors, one of which has a heating coil , long match and a stand to hold the match.
