Crystal model.

A19-1 Crystal model.
Purpose: To demonstrate thermal expansion.
Description: In a simple model of a crystalline solid, the atoms are held together in a regular array by forces that act like a set of springs connecting the atoms. When the temperature is increased, the average distance between the atoms increase, which leads to an expansion of the whole solid body.
